Chapter one:
It was the middle of July and the air in the crowded airport was unpleasantly warm and dense. I felt stuffy and uncomfortable, restlessly waiting in the queue to check in with the rest of my family. I was a bored eleven year old in a queue half a mile long, so I decided to entertain myself.
“I’m going for a walk!” I declared to my family.
“No you’re not! You can stay where you are young lady! We don’t want you wandering off and losing us,” My mother, Marie, stated very matter of factly.
